About the tour
Experience the Damas Island Estuary and Mangrove ecosystem firsthand - in an open-seated kayak. Indulge in a few therapeutic hours of paddling with the currents as your highly trained, bilingual nature guides reveal the protected inland waterways of the Damas Estuary and mangrove habitat.
Explore the richness of the flora and fauna as you experience the magical ecosystem of the Costa Rican mangrove and tropical rain forest. Paddle comfortably as an intimate group under the shade of several tall species of mangroves, which are only found in select areas of the world, Costa Rica being one of them. The pace of this adventure is determined by your abilities, your interests, and how much wildlife you want to stop and observe (or learn more about) – all in its natural and breathtaking habitat.
Watch sloths and numerous species of monkeys travel through the tree canopy, keep an eye out for nocturnal silky anteaters and several types of reptiles resting in the mangroves, and listen to the songs of the various local and migrant birds as they fly over your kayak curiously. The guides have their own tips and tricks to spot all the animals that show up during the tour – they make your experience simply extraordinary.
This kayaking tour allows for a close and personal experience with the Costa Rican mangrove forest. You will learn and understand about the secrets of this exotic and unique type of forest, as you become one with nature.
After your adventure, you will enjoy a delicious and well-deserved Tico style meal, a hot breakfast, lunch, or dinner, depending on the time of your tour.
Come learn about the composition of the ecosystem found in the Costa Rican mangrove estuary – unlike anything you will see in any other part of the world. Go back home knowing the importance of preserving this delicate yet vital aspect of life, so crucial to the environment not only in Costa Rica, but in the world’s ecosystem.
