About the tour
On behalf of our ancestors, the Quepoa Indians, we welcome you to our native territory! Little trace of their culture and lifestyle may remain, but our region is still blessed with the pristine rainforests they used to inhabit, as well as the rich fertile soil for agriculture they themselves used. Now, we have the great opportunity to grow as a thriving community based on ecotourism and agriculture.
In this tour you will have the opportunity to go where few tourists visit, and acquire a wealth of historical information about our region and our country. You'll learn about our education system, national park system, social security, religion and other local customs. You'll also learn about the socio-economic impact of the United Fruit Company in our region, its arrival, departure, and the successful arrival and triumph of Ecotourism. Our experienced bilingual guide will provide information, tell you stories and answer any questions you may have. The tour will take you to a local school in a little finca (farm) surrounded by African palm oil where you will gain detailed insight into the school and you will be able to ask pertinent questions.
We continue at a small butterfly center to enjoy a snack and learn more about this interesting project. Additionally, we include a visit to the farmers market on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings. We recommend you try the exotic fruits such as the antioxidant rich “Granadilla” (Passiflora).
